Welcome to the Volvo Olympian collection. Before anyone panics, this site is an Olympian fan zone. Let's face it I like both the Leyland and Volvo. There is the Leyland Olympian site and well a top site it is! I aim not to take their shine and glory. This one is an illustration of the Olympian's progression with Volvo before ending with new floor deckers which we have today.
So a range of Northern Counties, Alexander and East Lancs family of Volvo Olympian. I am only covering the UK side of things but also include former UK ones elsewhere such as Dualway of Rathcoole.
The migration from Leyland started with Yorkshire Coastliner with the first Volvo Olympian L8YCL and it's sisters to replace earlier Leyland Olys.
Many operators including the major operators such as Stagecoach, Go Ahead, Arriva and First purchased these vehicles.
The last of the Volvo Olympian's built were the former Yorkshire Coastliner (again!) W reg olys which have since moved to First Somerset & Avon.
